5 Tips to Making The Most of eLearning
So you have registered for an eLearning course, now what?
To help you maximise this learning opportunity here our 5
tips to making the most of your eLearning course.
1. Commit to the process
Be aware that learning online is not about an easier method
but a more convenient method. Just like regular learning you have got to make a
commitment to it so you maximise the opportunity.
Make a commitment to:
- Giving it the time it needs
- Attending the program as required
- Focus when studying
- The whole process
Once you have made the commitment you are half way there!
2. Make space
It is important that you have a dedicated place where you
study. It doesn’t matter whether it be your lounge, study or bedroom, just make
sure you can focus and you won’t be distracted.
A key to successful online study is routine and a regular
space where you know you can sit down and progress is important. Make sure the people
around you know that you need this time and space and ask them to respect that.
Another good habit to get into is turn off you phone and
social media when you study so that you are not being interrupted by the latest
tweet.
3. Have a plan
Creating an eLearning study plan is always a good idea.
Make
sure you:
- Include a calendar:
include exams, deadlines and any relevant dates.
- Are organised:
don’t leave your next assignment till the night before. Plan for it.
- Set timeframes:
before you start each piece of work plan the time it will take you and try and
stick to it.
- Stick to the
plan: get in the habit of sticking to the eLearning plan. This will keep
you keep on top of all the work.
4. Don’t be afraid to ask for help
As much as you need to spend the time discovering answers for
yourself if you are really struggling it is best to speak up. If you don’t it
will result in a lack of motivation, falling behind and even not completing
your eLearning course.
It is a good idea to build a relationship with your online
teacher so that when you do contact them they know who you are and a bit about
you.
5. Take breaks
It is important that you get into the habit of taking
regular study breaks.
You will struggle to make the most of your study if you are
too tired and worn out. When taking a break try and get away from your space
and get some fresh air or a drink. Even such things as a walk or some physical
activity can really help. This will mean that you can go back to your study refreshed
and ready to keep on working.
